Ladies and Gentlemen, it is my great pleasure to introduce Malcolm
a very talented young man who is part of our community!

Malcolm Theodore Parnall, nine years old, will perform Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 16 in D Major, K. 451, 1st Movement, with the Symphony Orchestra of Albuquerque. Malcolm has been playing and learning about music since he was about a year old. Tatiana Vetrinskaya, the Director of the New Mexico School of Music, started teaching Malcolm at the age of six. He performed at Carnegie Hall, in the Golden Key Music Festival, at the age of seven. He was the youngest winner of the Hey, Mozart! Competition in 2013, at the age of eight.
Malcolm loves playing the piano. He enjoys learning new pieces and about the composers who wrote them. He is also taking a composition class and likes learning new ways to compose music. Malcolm gives half of his allowance money to the NMSM's Scholarship Fund to help other children have the opportunity for music lessons.
Malcolm’s mother Marta Strzyzewski Parnall, who as Miss New Mexico played Chopin’s Revolutionary Etude on the piano in the Miss America competition in 2001, coaches Malcolm in his practice sessions at home. His father, Bert Parnall, is a local attorney. Malcolm has two younger siblings who also take piano lessons, and an older sister currently studying in Spain.
Malcolm is a fourth-grader at Bandelier Elementary and loves math, reading, writing stories, making comic books, drawing, and playing with his siblings and friends.
